Ramayana Part 1 (2026) starts Rama's story with the sage Vishvamitra, played by Ajinkya Deo, taking the young Rama and Lakshmana to guard his forest rituals. Tataka was a yakshini who became a rakshasi through the sage Agastya's curse. In Valmiki's Bala Kanda she had made a whole forest unsafe, and Vishvamitra asked the young Rama to kill her.
Rama did not want to kill a woman at first. Vishvamitra told him that protecting people from harm is a prince's duty, so Rama fought her. Afterwards Vishvamitra gave him the divine weapons.
